Responding to environmental awareness, Kate Tsui (徐子珊) specially spent $300,000 HKD to buy an environmental-friendly car for transport convenience. Although it’s not a small sum of money but as an artist, it is rather important for Kate to have her own set of wheels to go around places. Hence when changing cars, Kate gave some thought to the environmental problem before locking in $300,000 HKD for the car, “Although the money (for the car) has already been paid to the car dealer but earlier on, I have already estimated that I would be able to enjoy some rebates. This was because the government issues car registration tax relief for environmentally-friendly cars. I get to kill many birds with one stone. Not only do I save money from the tax relief, I also managed to carry out the message behind environmental protection, cut down on my usage of petroleum and do not have to worry about idle engines ever again when stopping my car.”
Other than that, instead of driving, Kate usually cycles to the areas around her place to buy some stuffs, in an effort to reduce exhaust fumes from penetrating into the air. For Kate to have such a perspective, it sure proves that she has the potential to become a spokesperson for the environment!
When asked whether she uses her bicycle as a way of protecting the earth, Kate responded,“Not only that. One can treat it as a form of exercise too. On my birthday this year, fans gave me a foldable bicycle as my birthday present. Recently, since there has been some time after filming, I have been practicing cycling on it. Because I usually cycle on the streets during the crack of dawn, I thought that it would be comfortable since there was no pedestrian and no vehicles on the streets. However, someone reminded me that it was dangerous to be alone on the streets as there was a danger that I might bump into some robbers hence I intend to find people to cycle alongside me.”
